Our Story
The Heights Hotel Killarney has a rich history, dating back to its origins as the elegant Curraheen Hall farmhouse in the 1800s. Later transformed into a small hotel by John C Cooper and his wife, it became known as The Hall Hotel.
In 1973, the O’Riordan family purchased the property, rebranding it as Castle Heights and responding to the growing demand for functions and weddings by expanding the hotel to include a ballroom. This development cemented the venue’s reputation as a beloved wedding destination, and still is to this day!
By 1996, the decision was made to rebuild the aging structure from the ground up, resulting in a complete refurbishment of all bedrooms, the function room, bars, and restaurants. During this period, the now-famous Carvery was introduced, soon earning a reputation as one of the best in the country.
In 2004, under the leadership of Collette Andre O’Riordan, the hotel underwent a significant rebranding. The formation of a dedicated Sales and Marketing department successfully gave the hotel a fresh name and brand, ushering in a new era for The Heights Hotel Killarney.
